I've had the pleasure of working with Amy Hulse for about two years in several capacities. First at a new Montessori school where in the last semester we were asked to combine our music and dance classes for a year end presentation with only 6-8 rehearsals and 300 students. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Amy and hear her ideas for our "folk songs around the world" series. Due to illness in my family I had to resign my position, Amy then stepped in and took over BOTH music and dance for the school and lead the year end production on her own. I was able to attend the very successful presentation and was so happy to see the integrity of the plans we formed were carried out and performed for their very happy families and staff. Amy then came to my family's performing arts studio to offer homeschool creative dance and movement classes for mixed ages. Children ranged from ages 5-9 and had varying abilities and experience. Amy was able to easily adapt curriculum and lessons to accommodate the age ranges and the children enjoyed their classes so much. After seeing what Amy could do, I asked her to choreograph a beginning show ensemble (small show choir) of 6-8 singers that had ZERO dance experience. Amy was masterful in her abilities to adapt choreography for my vocalist and built routines that provided progressive challenges throughout the season for the performers without over simplifying or causing the overall show to lake in stage presence. We were able to take these shows to Branson stages, the Arkansas State Capitol and various places within our community. Truly I stand in awe at Amy's abilities to bring charm and class to our routines with these inexperienced dancers. Our audiences enjoyed the shows and my vocalists were confident in their steps and enjoyed the challenge of learning new skills from season to season. Amy also worked with my homeschool choir assisting in riser choreography for Jingle Bell Jukebox. She went out of her way to attend rehearsals and send helpful video clips so students could learn at home. Again, I was thrilled at the simplicity of the choreography that brought BIG changes to our choir program. I would use Amy again and again for my choreography needs or to lead any dance classes. She is calm, collected, professional, prompt and generous with her rates and time. My music students and I have enjoyed working with her so much.
